New Securities Law
|
Welcome! This website is set up by the Securities Commission to explain the changes to securities law that come into force on 29 February 2008. The changes were made when Parliament passed the Securities Legislation Bill in October 2006. The accompanying regulations were approved by Cabinet on 3 December and announced by the Minister of Commerce that day. This website explains changes to the Securities Act 1978 and the Securities Markets Act 1988. If you are a securities market participant or adviser to participants you need to know about changes relating to insider trading and substantial security holder disclosure, and new law on market manipulation. If you are an investment adviser, financial planner, broker, lawyer or accountant who gives investment advice to members of the public you need to comply with new law relating to investment adviser disclosure. The Commission has been given new powers to enforce the new law. A guide to the new law can be downloaded here. Hard copies are also available. Register here to order a free copy. |
